Seongsan Sunrise Peak (Ilchulbong)

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Seongsan Sunrise Peak is a volcanic tuff cone that formed over 5,000 years ago. Its dramatic cliffs rise from the sea and offer panoramic views of the east coast. Visiting at sunrise is particularly spectacular, with golden light illuminating the crater and surrounding fishing villages. But it offers stunning views at any time of day.

• Location: Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
• Entry Fee: Approximately ₩2,000 for adults; free for children under 7
• Opening Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (varies by season for safety reasons)
• Tips:
  • Arrive at least 30-45 minutes before sunrise for the best experience
  • Wear good walking shoes – the climb takes about 30 minutes and includes lots of steps and some slopes
  • Parking is available, but spaces can fill up quickly during peak season
  • Don’t miss the nearby Seopjikoji cliffs for additional coastal views

Jeju Folk Village

This open-air museum preserves traditional Jeju homes, crafts, and cultural practices from the 19th and 20th centuries. You can see restored thatched houses, black stone walls, and workshops demonstrating weaving, pottery, and traditional farming.

• Location: 631-34 Minsokhaean-ro, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si
• Entry Fee: ₩11,000 for adults, ₩8,000 for children
• Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Tips:
  • Plan at least 2 to 3 hours to walk around the entire site at Jeju Folk Village
  • Guided tours are available in English, but it’s a good idea to check availability in advance

Manjanggul Lava Tube

Manjanggul is one of the longest lava tubes in the world, offers a unique glimpse into Jeju’s volcanic geology. You can walk through underground tunnels with stunning lava formations, including stalactites, stalagmites, and lava pillars.

• Location: 182, Gimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si
• Entry Fee: ₩2,000 for adults, ₩1,000 for children
• Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (last entry 5:30 PM)
• Tips:
  • Temperature inside is ~11°C year-round so bring a light jacket – and look out for water dripping from the ceiling
  • Wear closed-toe shoes with decent grip – some of the paths can be slippery
  • There is limited lighting inside so be sure to take your photos carefully or use a low-light camera setting

Loveland

Loveland is a playful adults-only sculpture park. It’s known for its erotic art and humorous displays. It’s a quirky, one-of-a-kind attraction on Jeju that’s not suitable for kids!

• Location: 2894-72 1100-ro, Jeju-si
• Entry Fee: ₩12,000 for adults
• Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Tips:
  • Not suitable for children
  • Combine with a morning visit to Jeju City attractions for a full-day Jeju itinerary
  • Great for quirky photos, a bit of fun and some unusual souvenirs

Other UNESCO and Iconic Jeju Attractions

Hallasan National Park

Korea’s highest peak, Hallasan offers trails for all levels, from easy walks to full-day hikes. The crater lake, Baengnokdam, is a highlight for advanced hikers.

• Entry: Free; some trails require reservations via Jeju National Park website
• Tips: Weather changes quickly – bring rain gear and water. If you’d rather not hike along, there are plenty of Hallasan tours you can jump on for more security and a dedicated guide.

Dol Hareubang Statues

Jeju’s stone guardians, carved from volcanic rock, are scattered around villages and cultural sites. These symbols of protection and fertility are iconic to the island. Kids typically love them and you can get some great family photos!

• Tips: Visit Dol Hareubang Park in Jeju City for a concentrated view of these unique sculptures

Cheonjeyeon & Jeongbang Waterfalls

These dramatic waterfalls are located on the southern coast and offer scenic walking paths and lush surroundings.

• Entry Fee: ₩2,000–₩3,000
• Tips: Visit early morning to avoid crowds – Cheonjeyeon has a series of three linked falls that are best explored together
• Jeongbang is also near one of the famous Olle trails, if you want to combine it with a walk

Planning Tips for Iconic Jeju Attractions

• Timing: Early mornings or late afternoons avoid crowds and provide the best light for your photos.
• Transport: Renting a car is highly recommended. Some of these attractions are far from bus routes, and a car makes it much easier to visit all the best Jeju attractions.
• Tickets & Fees: Most sites accept cash and credit cards. Check opening hours as some are seasonal (for light and safety).
